Vikings is renewed through Season 6 on History, but could the series expand with a spinoff?
Speaking to Deadline, History programming chief Eli Lehrer said there are no immediate plans for a Vikings spinoff series, but suggested an appetite for even more episodes of the main series, with the door open on Season 7:
I think [series creator] Michael Hirst is so busy writing the episodes that we’ve ordered that I can’t imagine he’s had time to think about spinning it off. So the answer is, at this point, we haven’t had conversations about anything beyond how can we get more episodes of Vikings itself. It’s a monumental undertaking but he does it with a shocking degree of ease and equanimity.
Weighing in on a potential end date for Vikings, Lehrer put the ball in Hirst’s court:
I think only Michael knows where it’s going to end and how it’s going to end at this point.
Are you game for a Vikings spinoff? Hoping the series goes beyond Season 6?
