The Mick was cancelled at FOX after two seasons, but what was planned for Season 3?
In an interview with TVLine, series creator John Chernin revealed his vision for Season 3, noting that he was “blindsided” by FOX’s decision to axe the drama:
“Everybody was saying we were coming back, so we were pretty blindsided by that. The general plan was to catch up months after the accident. Sabrina was going to be pretty f–ed up. We think [Sofia Black-D’Elia] is the most incredible actress, so we wanted to basically have Sabrina learn how to walk and talk again.”
And what of Mickey? Co-creator Dave Chernin confirmed The Mick Season 3 would have explored Mickey and Jimmy’s relationship:
We worked really hard in Season 2 to make Jimmy a likable character, which we did by having Mickey s–t all over him. In Season 3, we wanted to tip the seesaw in the other direction, having Jimmy be the a–hole in the relationship.”
Are you still crushed by the cancellation of The Mick? Would you have watched Season 3?
Rick says
The Mick was one of their funnier Sitcoms I thought. It was fresh, somewhat family friendly and just a good show. I hope a Netflix or Hulu could revive it, and smoke FOX. It’s just to bad they can’t revive all good programming from the reapers graveyard.
