CBS CEO Leslie Moonves has explained the network’s decision to cancel Person Of Interest, admitting it boiled down to ownership/revenue, per THR:
He mentioned that this also affected fall TV schedule choices, as the CBS-owned Elementary was renewed, but Warner’s Person of Interest was canceled.
Elementary made an about profit of $80 million last year, Moonves said, while the company broke even on Person, “because Warner Bros got all that additional revenue.” .
Stay tuned as we observe the graveyard for a potential POI revival…

So why not move it to the CW?
Chad says
Why did POI have to introduce the Shaw/Root lesbian element?
There was absolutely no need to include this into the plot line.
I have been a faithful follower of POI until this episode. NO LONGER!!
MightyMad says
… sigh.
Gays and Lesbians exist, Chad. Grow up already and accept it – life is too short for you to waste it, being a bigot.

It was introduced quite a while back, as any real faithful follower of Person of Interest would have known about. The kiss at the elevator which took place right before Shaw grabbed was last year.
I doubt if Chad was ever really a faithful follower of the program, or he would not have waited until today to complain about it. It certainly was not first brought up last night, Monday May 23.

The reason Chad was behind might be because he never really watched the original airing of the show. Instead, he may have been watching it on Netflix as I did. When I finally became aware of it, the fourth season was already over. So, when I discovered it on Netflix I binged watched it through the 10th episode of the 5th season, then watched the last three episodes on air.

I agree. The gay agenda keeps shoving this crap down our throats in every program, every commercial, all the time. I’m ready to stick to books. I take note of the sponsors and complain to them.

Person Of Interest has been my long time favorite, always exciting, interesting with a lot of twists in the plot. I was disappointed that they introduced the lesbian element (as several other shows this season have done), it was not necessary to the plot and seemed out of place.
Why are the ‘Powers that Be’ talking about cancellation? Many of my friends (and relatives for that matter) really enjoy the show and look forward to the new episodes.

Best show on TV.! Sorry Moonves is so cheap and money hungry.
When CBS loses viewers maybe he will reconsider.
Magnificent writers (even when they included that “Lesbian” thing…Love is love, grow up). The comments made about Lesbians must of been made by Republicans and/or Trump supporters.
Outstanding cast and crew.
Magnificent chemistry between Root and Shaw.
CBS please reconsider for the fans.
Thank you

I am a registered Republican only because I like to choose what charities I donate to with the money I earn. I do not like to have my earnings garnished and spread to whomever the government likes at the moment. That being said, I had no problems with the lesbian scenes. They were tasteful and meaningful to the characters. Homo or Hetero, I cannot stand in your face sexuality in a main stream T.V. show or in public for that matter. Sorry to not fit into your energy wasting political mold. Your comment proves you are part of the problem, not the solution.

You can’t cancel Person of Interest!!! Best show on TV!! Great character chemistry. It’s only season 5. Most shows go longer than that, this can to. Jim Caveziel is a terrific actor. I can’t imagine the show getting canceled. You have to save it or move it to another network if CBS doesn’t want it

My favorite show on TV…With all the crap coming out now that is not worth viewing, I can’t understand CBS theory on cancelling this show…Great cast of characters and great story writing….CBS should reconsider!!!!
Scott Ingram says
I have watched ever show. Don’t know why you would ever think of cancelling this. You must wanting another CSI Ohio or the like. This is madness.
CMG says
Great show interesting, engaging and a cut above many other CBS show.
Hope CBS reconsiders or it shows up on another network.
Chris Doty says
CBS please reconsider cancelling this show. It is the best show on television.

Was very much interested when first diiscovered the show, and was a consistent viewer until the time being shown was changed to a late hour.
When a program starts moving around to different times, etc., I lose interest.
John says
I believe that when a network cancels a show, they should lose all rights to it and the creators should have the option to move it to another network.

There have been a few cancelled shows that returned to TV after they were cancelled, (Futurama, Nashville, The Mindy Project, JAG, Cougar Town), and most returned on another network than the one that first cancelled them. Family Guy returned to Fox, the same network that cancelled it in the first place, while Unforgettable first returned to CBS, then went to the A & E network.
The number of cancelled shows that have returned; either as weekly series, a Television special one time airing, direct to DVD, or a theatrical movie, have been few and far between.
Nashville (ABC) is the only cancelled show in 2016, (so far) to get a second chance.
