CBS has shelled out a big pilot production commitment to Magnum P.I., an update of the classic 1980s Tom Selleck series set in Hawaii. It hails from Peter Lenkov, CBS/CBS Studios’ go-to writer for rebooting iconic procedurals who has successfully revived Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver, and Davis Entertainment (The Blacklist).

Described as an updated version of the original series, “Magnum P.I.” follows Thomas Magnum, a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home to Hawaii from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. With help from fellow vets Theodore “TC” Calvin and Orville “Rick” Wright, as well as that of disavowed former MI:6 agent Juliet Higgins, Magnum takes on the cases no one else will, helping those who have no one else to turn to. Tom Selleck played the mustachioed Magnum in the original series.

The original Magnum P.I. survived eight seasons on CBS from 1980 to 1988.
Would you watch a Magnum P.I. reboot series? Should CBS leave Magnum P.I. to rest in peace?
Stay tuned as we monitor the revival status of Magnum P.I….

I think they should have a go at it if they get the right actor to play magnum cbs do well with the reboots of Hawaii five 0 & Macgyver so should give it a try there’s know I’m in trying.

I`d would give it a go & watch it… but wow look how young & gr8 looking Tom is, & still looking gr8 in Blue Bloods.
I`m enjoying MacGyver & have also watched all seasons of Hawaii 5-O & Blue Bloods.

I’d watch, it was a good show. I know Blue Bloods has Tom Selleck, wonder who will play the part of Magnum

What about Higgins? Can’t have Magnum without Higgins!

Enough with the reboots. Develop new shows with some talent instead of picking up old series and making them modern and ruining the whole series. I am a Tom Selleck fan so I will continue to watch Blue Bloods
SJW says
I would certainly give it a try. I find most of the new stuff coming out now isn’t worth watching.
David W says
Sounds like a mix of Magnum and Leverage, two of my favorite shows. I would check it out.

So far the only reboot I’ve seen and continue to watch is “Lethal Weapon”. Very good actors and they’re sticking very close to the two main characters and even Rogers family is very good. I’ve tried the others and just do NOT like them. I too watch and enjoy Blue Bloods and I don’t think you can stick someone else into a Tom Selleck role and have it work. I was hoping I’d like the MacGyver reboot because I LOVED the original but its nowhere near as good as the original.

No I would not watch a reboot….I wish that they would stop making reboots….let’s see some original stuff……
