The Gilmore Girls has been officially revived, but its resurrection may be short-lived.
Speaking to TVLine, WB chief Peter Roth, whose studio is producing the Netflix revival, promised that the four-episode eighth would provide satisfying closure to the original series:
“Amy is now able to finish, appropriately, properly and I think with great satisfaction, the show the way it should conclude. It’s going to be great. We’re very excited.”
At this stage at least, Season 8 is being marketed as a one and done farewell mission.
However, series star Lauren Graham appears to leave some room for a potential Season 9, hinting that the four episode revival provides only “some resolution”:
For sure. For sure. I read a scene with Kelly [Bishop, who plays matriarch Emily] today… and it was just completely alive. We have some really nice story together. And there’s definitely some resolution that we didn’t get [at the end of the series’ original run].
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the status of Gilmore Girls…

Can’t see everything being resolved without Jared Padalecki playing Dean. With the Supernatural schedule I don’t see it happening. Unless it’s filmed during Hellatus.
