Charlie Brooker’s 2017 Wipe has been cancelled due to Brooker’s other work commitments:
Got some good news and bad news. Bad news is no 2017 Wipe. Was set to do it but ran out of road. Am way behind on scripts / dev elsewhere and contrary to my optimistic delusions it turns out I can’t do 400 things at once. [1/3]

More good news to follow soon. That’s it! Now enjoy Christmas / life / Royal Wedding mania. [3/3]

A BBC spokesperson confirmed the cancellation:
Due to other commitments Charlie Brooker has opted to take a year off from his annual Wipe. Fans won’t have to wait too long however for more from Charlie, as Cunk On Britain will be coming to BBC Two in early 2018.
RIP.

He looks like a burned out alcoholic. What a dumb bastard. He is so much in demand according to himself. Fluck his dumb ass.
Keith Riches says
What an amazingly insightful comment. I’m sure poor, “dumb” Charlie never realised that he’s been deluding himself about his increasingly successful career. Must be all that drinking.
In fact, thinking about it I guess that all the positive reactions about his various projects that I’ve read to date – for example, feedback on Black Mirror on imdb – must have been made by Charlie himself.
I hope he reads your entry here and gets the help he so obviously needs.

Well that’s my Christmas ruined! Oh well. Maybe next year!
