Cancelled MTV reality show Buckwild is returning this summer for spinoff series West Virginia Wilder, Deadline reports:
Production is currently underway in Morgantown and Charleston, West Virginia on the series, described as a comedic follow-doc about a group of hard-working and fearless teens and twenty-somethings. West Virginia Wilder is being pitched to cable networks and digital platforms with an eye toward a summer launch.
Buckwild originally survived one season from January–February 2013. The series received a second season renewal from MTV, but was later cancelled following the death of star Shain Gandee.
West Virgina Wilder is currently seeking a network. Could it follow Buckwild‘s footsteps to MTV? The producers are open to the possibility, though other outlets are apparently in the mix:
“MTV knows we are back in West Virginia and has asked us to bring in the project. We are currently pitching all of the cable and streaming buyers to find the best home for the series.”
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the survival status of West Virginia Wilder…
