WGN America has cancelled Underground after two seasons, RenewCancelTV has confirmed.
The critically-acclaimed drama is not scheduled to return for Season 3 on the network in the wake of parent company Tribune Media’s $3.9 billion purchase by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
Underground producers Sony Pictures Television are officially seeking a new home for the series, in the event that Sinclair doesn’t reverse its decision to abandon scripted programming.
Underground airs its season (and series) finale May 10, 2017.
RIP.

Never cared for this show.

This is some BS! Underground is one of he best written docu-dramas style pieces on the subject matter & eloquently illustrates the good, the bad, the ugly & the poetic beauty from every side. Those pushing the series has a good, objective grasp of such struggles & compassionately invites its audience to reflect on such challenges, then & now. This show should be renewed or picked up by another network. It’s a shame that the really brilliant work always seems to get the sack. As a person of color I find this message necessary.

BOO HISS, I just watched the Season Finale Yesterday (I tape my favorite show to enjoy at my leisure) Was talking about how good it was this morning at the water cooler. Then I read this, figures that off shows that people may learn something on, and leave trash like ALL reality shows on. This was a Great Show!
Shirley says
See how upset I was, can’t even spell correct.
Correction: Then I read this, figures take off shows that people may learn something on, and leave trash like ALL reality shows on.

This is a shame with the huge fan base. This is one of the best television series that I’ve watched in a long time. It saddens me to know that it was even considered for cancellation with all of the lousy shows out there. The story line, the actors that carry out this phenomenal series are amazing and hurtful that it is even considered for cancellation in the midst of the season 2 cliffhanger. I say Boooo WGN. Won’t be a fan of your station if the show leaves your station. I am praying that we’ll hear something soon. Sincerely upset along with many others.

Meant to say “it is a shame to be cancelled with such a huge fan base, not to mention it is a fabulous story for the era.

Well I was going to go back and watch Season 1 and was taping Season 2. Well I guess I will not even watch any of it at all since you cancelled the show
Lynne says
So glad this isn’t cancelled! Here’s a thought, why doesn’t WGN pick up Scandal from ABC?
Satan says
No surprise at all that the nazi assed racists at Sinclair Propagandacasting would want this show immediately cancelled.
