A Timeless cliffhanger? With cancellation looming, Monday’s first-season finale will provide ‘satisfying’ answers for the NBC time-travel drama, however, it will also set up an unlikely second season, co-creator Shawn Ryan informs TVLine:
It answers a ton of the questions that we’ve raised. We’ve had a pretty good plan from the beginning of the season. There are things that happen in the finale that we had plotted out in our first couple weeks in the writers’ room back in June. We’ve known for a while that we were going to make 16 episodes this season, so we were able to plan for that and build to this. [..] It’s a great setup for what could be in Season 2. But a lot of things come full circle.
While that second season looks a long shot, Ryan is nevertheless ‘optimistic’:
I think there are a lot of reasons for optimism for a Season 2. We’ll find out in two or three months. We’ve always set out to tell this one-season story that then would provide a launching point for a Season 2, but that would answer a lot of things, and I think we did it. We didn’t have any conversations where we were pulling out ratings and trying to do the math. We’re just writers, and we told the best story we could. So we’ll let the chips fall where they may.
Can Timeless extend its run against all odds or will it end on an endless cliffhanger? Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the cancel/renew status of Timeless Season 2?

Its just aggravating as all get out that this good, decent, very watchable show will be canceled! I just can’t stand it anymore, NBC and CBS are the two worst offenders for canceling shows that have more to them then make believe comic book characters, every city service I.e. Chicago Fire/PD/Med and now Law. Please as we used to say gag me with a spoon.
Michael P. says
Kelly, I agree completely. For years, NBC has cancelled several shows I liked, and were unique, such as “Vegas”, “Ed” and “American Dreams”… so I suspect that will happen with “Timeless”, as well. If the network is following ratings and the tastes of the American public, then I should realize that I am not a mainstream viewer and little above the level of tired formula programming will last. Gee, with any luck, NBC will replace “Timeless” with a FIFTH “Chicago” program or a THIRD “Blacklist” show. UGH! If this show goes to the dustbin, I am pretty much done with NBC… and CBS is next.
Kay B. says
I agree with Kelley and Michael wholeheartedly! The networks always cancel the best shows and leave the worst on for decades. The logic seems to be turned upside down. What use to be considered good is now considered bad and vice versa. Insane!

Two thumbs up!

And what’s worse is that it’s the only original show NBC has other then the blacklist. Everything they have is the same old crap not since 1980 have they had a time travel show. And this is a good one. Why do you think it’s competitor over at ABC developed one called Time after time? That looks like it has potential to but NBC is all of a sudden quaking in his boots because of the production values. If you’re going to cancel show at least give us some type of finale with no cliffhanger so when it comes out on DVD you can buy it And enjoy it. Right now they don’t even have that capability.
Erik sprowls says
By the way that 1980 TV show was voyagers, which was another family show. Shame on NBC if they cancel timeless!

Timeless isgteat, please keep it

I’m so sick of all the nextworks! The Timeless series is on my Monday TV lineup, and worth watching, now hearing that it mostly likely will be canceled is a bummer.
These networks cancel good series to the point that their’s not much worth watching on TV. But when it comes to those so called reality show, they’re falling over each other to have them on their network.

Nbc sucks! Timeless is one of the few good shows on tv. I guess because there is no bad language or sex they think it’s not worth watching. If they cancel it I’m through with nbc. So tired of them canceling good shows!!!

I love Timeless. It’s smart, thought provoking, and not obscene…not the best formula for shows these days. The junk prevails and the great shows get cancelled only to be replaced by more junk.

I have gotten to the point where I won’t watch a tv series anymore. I don’t like any of the repetitive series that are on right now. Or the stupid comedies and comic book shows. Same old stuff. I gave up when Wicked City was cancelled after three episodes. THREE EPISODES!! Give me a break. That wasn’t even enough time to give it a chance. Then my husband says “you gotta watch Timeless, it’s great.” So I did, and I love it. Now here I am again, waiting for word about cancellation. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL TIMELESS!!
Mike Frost says
You people are crazy if you cancel this show. Finally a great Sci-Fi show on regular tv that I like. I only hope another network picks it up.
CARMEN PELLEGRINO says
If you are stupid enough to end this show on a cliffhanger well I think that just stinks, have the decency to at least give us a very good ending.
DO NOT CANCEL THIS GREAT SHOW PLEASE I LOVE TIMELESS.
Mike Swan says
Don’t cancel Timeless ! It is the best time travel series that has come long in years.
The writers make us more aware of both famous and not so famous historical figures while creating a storyline that gets better each week. Hey Sci Fi channel pick up this series, if NBC is dumb enough to cancel a it
