Noah Wyle has admitted he initially didn’t want to do a TV series adaptation of The Librarians. The actor/exec producer told Digital Spy:
“[I was] really not excited about [the TV show] at all [when it was first touted].
I really enjoyed making the movies, and I would have been happy to continue doing that. And I was doing Falling Skies when this got proposed and I was reticent to jump right in to another series on the same network.
And I had some reservations about whether or not we’d be able to pull off the same kind of quality by trying to do it week in and week out, that we might dilute the character and we might dilute the franchise if we try to do too much. So I really balked at the idea.”
Wyle doesn’t comment on the possibility of The Librarians Season 3, but says the show is “very successful” with the door open for more movies down the line:
“It depends – so far the show’s been very successful. I think the second season is better in a lot of ways and as long as we can keep refining it, tuning up, making it stronger, then maybe the audience would be interested in seeing the movies again.”

Renew it! The Librarians is like the most awesomeness show on TV right now! You’d be crazy to cancel it!

It’s obvious that The Librarians should be renewed for a third season. The story-lines and the characters are amazing! I always look forward to seeing new episodes.

Should The Librarians be renewed for a third season? Uh… HELL YES! What kind of question is that?! You can’t just take an extremely awesome and popular show and just throw it in the garbage! We need The Librarians! We need a third season and a fourth and a fifth and a six and so on.
