The Job Lot recommissioned for third series
ITV2 has recommissoned The Job Lot for a third series, with filming of the comedy set to commence Spring 2015.
Sarah Hadland will return as highly strung manager Trish, and Russell Tovey as her favourite member of staff, Karl, when the Midlands Job Centre reopens its doors.
The second series completed its run in 2014 after a successful move to ITV2, and saw Karl finally get together with sexy deputy manager Natalie, played by Laura Aikman. In Series 3, the couple will find out just how difficult it is to have a relationship in front of all their colleagues, and a very demanding boss.
Horrible Angela (Jo Enright) will be back with a vengeance to continue her reign of terror on unsuspecting jobseekers, alongside security guards Janette (Angela Curran) and Paul (Martin Marquez) and terminally work-shy Bryony (Sophie McShera).
The Job Lot is a Big Talk Production from the writing team of Claire Downes, Stuart Lane and Ian Jarvis, who are joined this series by writers Rachael New and Tom Parry. Sasha Ransome will direct the series, Jim Poyser will produce and Big Talk Chief Executive, Kenton Allen (Rev, Him & Her) is Executive Producer.
Angela Jain, Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions said “The Job Lot is a brilliantly sharp comedy and we’re really pleased to have it back for a third series. Its style of humour and wonderfully observed cast of characters fits perfectly on the channel alongside our other scripted comedies”.
Saskia Schuster, ITV’s Comedy Commissioner said “We’re really happy to bring back this delightfully warm comedy set in a Midlands job centre. The scripts are yet again superbly written as we catch up with our favourite characters”.
The Job Lot has been commissioned for ITV by Elaine Bedell, ITV’s Director of Comedy & Entertainment, Angela Jain, Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions and Saskia Schuster, ITV’s Comedy Commissioner.
