NBC has renewed The Carmichael Show for Season 2.
Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment, said:
“We’re extremely proud of The Carmichael Show and Jerrod’s voice and point of view is a breath of fresh air in a comedy series. This show made a big impact with viewers and critics because it’s funny and relatable but also because it’s fearless about discussing issues that are significant in the world today.”
Elsewhere, the network has cancelled Mr. Robinson after deciding not to move forward with a second season of the Craig Robinson sitcom.
The Carmichael Show Season 2 is expected to be released summer 2016.

WAAAAAAAY too “preachy” for a sitcom. It’s not really that funny and CLEARLY more concerned with voicing political stances than worrying about humor. I’m shocked this got picked up. NBC must just need more shows with at least SOME diversity, because they’ve got practically zero currently. I guess this was a better choice to keep than Mr. Robinson… it’s not quite THAT bad.. but it is definitely close to being that bad (if Jerrod sang in a cheesy comedy band, it would be that bad).

One of the best comedies in years. These are all the questions that the rest of Americans wanted to know how we feel and why we do what we do and here is the truth. I can understand why the network picked it up for a 2nd season. Hopefully, there are more episodes next year. Every comedy has to introduce you to themselves and this one did an excellent job. With barely having any advertisement as to its pilot episode, I’m proud of this show. There will always be those who don’t get it and that is fine. Not every show is catered to everyone. But one person’s opinion should not be the only opinion. Take an educated move and think for yourself. Either you like it or you don’t. I love it.
