The 100 showrunner Jason Rothenberg says he already has plans for Season 4, if the show is renewed.
He notes that while there’s no fixed timeline in place for wrapping up the show, he knows how The 100 will ultimately end, whether it runs four, five or eight seasons, per THR:
“I know what I want the final story to be and where I want these people to end up in the end. I don’t know how long that’s going to take. I’m not going to sit here and say that I want to do for the show as long I can do it. I want do to the show for as long as it interesting to me.”
Lord willing, we get a season four. We have a good idea of what we want that story to be,. If they said, ‘This is it. Wrap it up,’ we could make this idea I have right now for the wrap-up happen at the end of season four, or five or eight.”
Like many shows, The 100‘s survival will also be governed by ratings and those increasingly important streaming/licensing deals.
