Silicon Valley is renewed for Season 5 on HBO, but the end is in sight. Speaking to THR, showrunner Mike Judge confirmed plans to end the tech comedy after Season 6:
Season five would be the second-to-last, yeah. That’s how we were talking when we were setting up this season finale, just to help us in the writing. But you never know. It could be that it gets to six and someone has some idea.
As for how the series will conclude, Judge has it all mapped out:
Yeah, we have a series finale, a place ahead that we’ve talked about for a while now just amongst ourselves. That’s how we’re thinking of it.
EP Alec Berg is less fixed on the number of seasons Silicon Valley will run, but admits the finish line is within reach, per TVLine:
I think we’re probably just getting to the point where we’re asking that question. I can’t say we have any [season] number in mind. But we definitely for the first time are starting to talk about, “How long do you think this will continue…?” There is no definitive plan [to conclude the series], but we’re starting to think that maybe there are less shows left than there are in the can.
Will Silicon Valley get the coveted sixth and final season to end the series on its ‘own terms’, or could there be a cancellation plot twist in store? Could the series extend beyond Season 6? Stay tuned…
