Showtime has seemingly cancelled Roadies after one season.
Speaking at the TCA, network president David Nevins admitted that while he likes Roadies ‘it just didn’t catch on with viewers’.
"I really like the show,"David Nevins says of #Roadies."I felt there was an opportunity to do a show that had a very different tone." #TCA16

Sad, although they love the tone of #Roadies, Nevins thinks the show is "at the end of its run." Just didn't "catch on w/ audiences" #TCA16

So if you love #Roadies appreciate this one season. I don't think it's coming back. "Probably at the end of its run." –Nevins #TCA16

A final decision will apparently be made at the end of the first-season run, but it appears to be the end of the road for Roadies…
Stay tuned for further updates.
RIP.

Honestly, the show is decent, but not that intriguing… for a rock and roll tour, it’s pretty boring. The “excitement” is apparently supposed to be generated by the relationships between the roadies, or things “in their past” which we never saw or will see…. there’s no excitement there. So far, as of Episode 7 in Season 1 the ONLY good episode was the pilot — where the “stalker fan” is an issue.. they killed that storyline WAY WAY WAY (did I say “way”?) too early. That could have been an EASY running theme through the season and kept interest alive.. but nope… Where are the “problems”…. the “issues”…. the parties…. apparently this should have been titled “Snoozies” — Day to day life isn’t really intriguing just because a profession may be different. Take all these people and put them working at a Kinkos….. it’d still be the same show. Is it no wonder “it didn’t click with viewers”?

I am obviously the kiss of death, because I really enjoy “Roadies”. It offers an insight into the rock concert tour world that we never see. I like the actors and their individual stories. Bummer. This could get picked up by another network, thought, right?
Patty Roddy says
I agree love the show, didn’t give it enough time to catch on

It is a fr at show give it a chance bad decision

Don’t get me wrong, I kind of like it.. but honestly, I won’t miss it if it never comes back after season 1. There hasn’t been a SINGLE episode that’s had me thinking “ooooo wonder what’ll happen next week.” And I think that is the mark of a better show.
Patrik Burr says
Yeah. Different things ‘excite’ different people. I loved Roadies. The writing was amazing- the cast was perfect… and the premise was fresh.
It was quality television and I guess that’s part of the reason it’s out the window. Bring on the explosions Hollywood…
Bruce R. Jackson says
I actually enjoyed it! The story lines were very good!
Joseph Glenn Parker says
Some good some not so good. Could be made into a good show with a little work. Too bad it won’t have time to develop.
Serge Robert says
Not being cartoon characters I understand it was hard to follow by many viewers.
It’s not an show to follow, SO many different elements, my own PEA brain hardly kept up.But I gave it some thoughts and a little time and then WOW, this is really entertaining.
Where do the NEW Showtime execs come from? ABC NBC CBS…
Patrik Burr says
Right!!!
We rely on Cable to think outside the box… sad

I just think this past Sunday episode should have lead off the season…I just don’t understand why they “offed” Phil to later have one of the strongest elements come back and provide an insightful meaning to “what does it mean to be a “roadie” ?. . It had passion.
Ok, I may be on my own island with this one…but ….wrong Wilson. I would have loved to have seen this be a vehicle for Andrew…he from a media distance has not had a lot of work but the over 6 foot – the beard – just hangin out … great looking over 50 year old who has sex appeal – …he has that mystery where Luke excels as acting “the confused” -wrong show for him – but – Luke talents should have a different movie written for him – very talented.

I really like the show. You have to give it a couple episodes to get the vibe, but it’s really good. Well written, and well acted. I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t come back. It’s nice to have a show that’s fun and not full of awful, unrealistic characters.
I love how each episode has a “Song of the Day” and how you feel the love they have for the music. Not everything has to be gritty.

I never leave comments but I had to because I love Roadiies! It’s my favorite show right now. Why do they always cancel the great shows and keep the mediocre ones? Because the $$$ to be made is from
Shows that entertain the dumb downed masses. Intelligence enlightening and witty humor do not factor into the decisions of what shows are too be renewed and make money. I get it it’s a business. I hope Cameron Crowe will find a way to keep the show alive even if Showtime lets it go
Scott says
A fantastic show with great characters. I really hope they go for a season 2.

I am really getting sick of Showtime. Everytime I start liking a series they pull the plug. With Penny Dreadful, House of Lies and now Roadies being cancelled there is simply no reason for me to subscribe to Showtime anymore. See ya Showtime.
randy says
Well hell. Ray Donovan is still on. Guess I gotta keep it just a little longer.

I am so bummed – I was really enjoying this show! It’s not like anything else on TV right now. Being a concert junkie, it was cool to watch some of the behind the scenes action with “Roadies” and I thought the acting was great. I loved seeing at least one established musical artist every show and hearing the song of the day. And I knew immediately this past Sunday that Jackson Browne would be on when I saw the name of the eppie was “Load Out” – OMG! It almost made up for him not playing it when I saw him in concert a few years back – damn! I hope TPTB can figure a way for this little gem to continue.
Caron says
We love this show! I’m so sad it might be cancelled. I looked forward to watching it every week!!
Barb McCurry says
This show has such depth and only gets better each week…I find myself watching it over again to gain more insight. I appreciate the musical guests and tie-ins to some really great music that I somehow missed during my life. The actors playing the characters are perfect for this show…you can see they really enjoy their roles and working off one another. I would love to see Roadies come back for another season, or longer…it is quality TV! The last show of Season I was nuanced and brought it full circle with an ending that left it open for more. Please continue the journey, and thanks for such a great show!

I find it disgusting that the CEO has decided to not renew for a second season. I’m left asking why? Because the rating weren’t high? Maybe if there were more promos put out for it rather then the month it started airing? It is a clean show, not some raunchy showtime after dark show for creepers. I will not renew my subscription to showtime, I feel the CEO needs to look at little deeper then expecting high ratings with a 10 series show! You never gave it a chance. I will however purchase the DVD of this series, not for showtime to benefit from it. But to thank Cameron Crowe for giving us fans of roadies an excellent show! Disgusted with showtime.
Lynne McCleery says
Really disappointed
Chelsea says
Loved this show! Sad to see yet another show gone especially after only 1 season ☹️ They definitely didn’t promote it enough!
Boo says
I feel the same – every show I like get’s cancelled….it had a nice – different feel – love Luke! Appreciated something new! Come on Showtime or Hulu or Netflix – give us back this show Cameron!!
Barb says
I really enjoyed this show so naturally it gets cancelled. I agree – this show wasn’t promoted enough to get the level of interest they needed, and they didn’t give it enough time to really develop each character and get a decent following. Too bad. It will be missed.
