The Ranch lives on for now, but Netflix has cancelled star Danny Masterson following sexual assault claims.
A Netflix spokesperson said in a statement:
“As a result of ongoing discussions, Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of The Ranch. Yesterday was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him.”
Adds Deadline:
For almost two decades, actor Danny Masterson has been under a cloud of suspicion over accusations by four women that he had raped them in the early 2000s. With renewed attention to the case amid the current crackdown on sexual harassment and sexual assault in Hollywood, Netflix is parting ways with actor, who stars opposite Ashton Kutcher in the Internet network’s popular multi-camera comedy series The Ranch.
I hear production is about to wrap on the first batch of 10 episodes from The Ranch‘s 20-episode third season, with one more episode left to shoot. The remaining 10 episodes will be filmed in 2018. The 10-episode second half of Season 2 of The Ranch with Masterson in it will be released on Dec. 15. He also will be be featured in the Season 3 episodes that he had filmed before his dismissal, which had been in the works.
Are you pleased with the decision to cancel Masterson and not The Ranch itself? Will Masterson’s dismissal have a longer-term impact on the show’s survival status? Stay tuned…

Can you use the word fired instead of cancelled when talking about something like this please

YES! I hate when they do that. Who refers to it as “canceling” a person from a show? It doesn’t even make sense. I swear they write it that way just to get more views. They did the same thing when one of the show runners for a couple of the DC Comics shows on CW was fired. It makes it sound like the show was canceled, when it was actually that a person who works on the show was fired.

It is amazing how hollywood has let this crap go on for years without doing a darn thing. Now that the cat is out of the bag, they are going to start taking action. Well, if they have not been found guilty in a court of law, what the hell. Just my two cents.

Replace him with one of his brothers. I won’t notice the difference.

It’s sad to believe there has been this much sexual harassment going on, not only in this industry, but everywhere & for so many years. If it’s true, then something needs to change but I do have a problem with all the ancient stuff that supposedly occurred 10-15-20+ years ago. Times have changed a lot over the years & what is considered sexual harassment now was not necessarily true 15-20+ years ago. Obviously I’m not referring to rape, or any kind of actual physical sexual assault, but some of the other claims being made. I’m also not referring to the “Put out or get out” claims either.
My only concern about all these many many claims now is we seem to have lost the part of our judicial system that is “innocent until proven guilty”!

Love the Ranch, but if this has been known for years and they are only making the move because of publicity due to the current “revelations” that many powerful men abuse women, then Netfix should be ashamed of themselves.

It has been known for years that Hollywood did not hold the moral high ground in the country. I am sure it would be hard to find ANY actor or actress that didn’t do something shady during their time in Hollywood to get somewhere. I do not think Masterson should be convicted in public opinion. If he committed a crime, cast him out. But there are those that just want to be victims so I am skeptical unless all the evidence has been reviewed. Especially in Hollywood where they play normal Americans on the screen but cast a downward glance at us during their award ceremonies.
