CBBC’s fly on the wall documentary which lifts the lid on all the fun and challenges for year sevens – the newbies in secondary school – travels to a Birmingham academy for its second series.
The cameras follow the new mix of year sevens inside school and out of it. Our School 2 is right behind them as they find their feet in their new surroundings, encountering fresh experiences and making new friends.
Throughout the series there will be tough moments and tricky dilemmas – from the challenges of unruly behaviour to the rights and wrongs of using phones and social media in school. We’re with the students all the way as they pursue their dreams and aspirations, while overcoming the challenges of dyslexia and autism, to lack of self confidence and family bereavement.
There’s plenty of fun too, including the excitement of school trips and projects and the chance to take part in the grand year 7 talent show, which brings the year to a compelling close.
For a new intake of Year 7s, secondary school is a vast world that they need to navigate. Our School 2 reflects the highs and lows of it all but ultimately it shows the CBBC viewer worried about going up to big school, that it will all be OK.
In the first episode, as well as meeting some of the year 7s we will get to know throughout the series, there is newcomer Easa, whose challenge of big school is greater than most, as he not only doesn’t speak a word of English, but has never been to school before.
