Murder In Successville has been cancelled after three series. The BBC Three comedy will not return for Series 4, it has been confirmed.
Speaking to Digital Spy, star Tom Davis confirmed that Murder In Successville has reached the end of its small screen run after three seasons:
“I think, weirdly, the format of doing half-hours, it sort of felt like we pushed that as far as we can.
“If you’d have told me when we started it off that we’d have done three series and won awards and be in a position where we kept a good standard up, I think maybe you’d start to see it creak if we went into a fourth series and another six episodes.”
As for the mooted Murder In Successville movie, Davis suggested it could take the form of an extended TV movie:
“Murder in Successville is always that kind of show that if you’re doing it again, you want to lift it from what you did before. We’re in talks with two stars for a potential film and it’s taking longer [than I expected],” he outlined.
“I was probably thinking that you could do it in about a week and a half, but apparently you have to get funding and that takes quite a long time, especially when you go to someone and say, ‘This hasn’t got a script really…’ There’s still a lot of interest in it and we’re in talks.”
RIP.
