Amanda Abbington has confirmed that Mr Selfridge Season 4 will be the last in the series.
Speaking to What’s On TV, the actress said:
“I shall definitely be back to see Miss Mardle’s character through… It’s the last series, so after this we won’t be doing any more, which will be really sad because it’s been a part of my life for four years.”
But I’m sure there will be more heartache and a rollercoaster of emotions for Miss Mardle and Mr Groves. But I don’t know whether it’ll end very happily, who knows? I haven’t seen the scripts yet. I’m hoping they’ll ride off into the sunset, but I don’t think that will happen!”
ITV has yet to confirm the news, but series creator Andrew Davies has previously admitted that Mr Selfridge was always conceived as a four season show.
Stay tuned for an official announcement/further updates.
In the meantime, it very much looks like:
RIP.

I found this show to be very entertaining. I did not realize Mr. Selfridge played a major role in developing the idea of franchising department stores until I saw the documentary. I don’t know how much of the show was fact based on his life, but period pieces are a rarity these days for television viewers. This show and “Downtown Abbey” are by far the best as it goes for period pieces. “Mr. Selfridge” will be missed. Applause to the entire cast and crew for your hard work and dedication.

Yes we will miss this show at our house too! Even Jeremy Piven’s atrocious overacting couldn’t kill it, thanks to the steller acting chops of the rest of the cast!

Sad to see it go. With Downton Abbey in its last season and Yesterday running Porridge and other non-history/documentary shows, there’s not much left for me to watch on TV.
