Modern Family Season 9 renewal has yet to be rubber-stamped, but co-creator Steve Levitan believes it’s just a matter of time, per Deadline:
“In about a month or so, the writers will re-gather and we will sit down and we will start the season with a big, ‘What now?’”
Of the contract dispute which has delayed the Season 9 renewal, Levitan is confident it will all be resolved, per THR:
“I think it’s going to be fine. I’m not worried about it. I think everybody wants to come back. It typically works out. Fortunately, I think we’re in good shape.”
As for how long Modern Family can survive, Levitan ideally wants ten seasons, but is open to the sitcom ending after Season 9 as long as it ‘ends strong’:
“I’d like it go ten seasons. It seems like a nice, round number. But most importantly, I’d like to end strong. If that means ending it after nine, that’s ok. If it means ending it after ten, even better.”
As for actor Eric Stonestreet, he’d like somewhere between nine and eleven seasons, if not longer:
“The real answer is we all love our jobs and we would do the show as long as they wanted to keep making it.”
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the renew/cancel and end date status of Modern Family as it closes in on a Season 9 pick-up…
D. R. Strickland says
The family only watches Once upon a time and Modern Family also Blackish because it’s after Modern Family. Modern Family has a strong cast and the story line never gets old. The Kids love watching reruns on USA. It would be terrible blow if you cancel Modern family, The Children (Tv Show and mine ) have grown together. The Children will be devastated,so will a lot of Fans.
