Modern Family boss Christopher Lloyd believes the comedy series can run for 10 seasons.
With Modern Family Season 7 premiering this fall, Lloyd told Variety that “there’s a lot of life left in the series” and has targeted 10 seasons:
“One of our gauges is how hard the stories are to come by — do we feel like at the beginning of the season, we’re struggling to come up with stuff? This season, the answer is no. We already came up with about half of our season for next year… and I’m excited to see these episodes get filmed and on the air, so I take that as a sign that there’s a lot of life left in the series. Three years is what it feels like to me, but we’ll see — this is up to the public and we hope our ratings stay strong. But should they, it seems like we have enough to have three years left, and I hope that’s the case because we still have fun making the show.”

If that 2.3 rating the Season 6 finale plummeted to is the start of a trend “Modern Family” might be lucky to see Season 8.
