ABC wasted little time cancelling The Mayor after one season.
Speaking at today’s Television Critics Association, network chief Channing Dungey offered her take on why the network didn’t re-elect the sitcom for Season 2 — ratings and “political fatigue”:
“For whatever reason it did not connect to the audience. People knew [about it], but they just didn’t come.”

On when the final four episodes of The Mayor will burn off? Dungey confirms there’s no current air date.
ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey: No airdate on the four remaining episodes of #TheMayor, which has been pulled from the schedule. (One factor in its cancellation was delayed viewing going DOWN as the show went on.) #TCA18
