Louis C.K. has cancelled Louie, at least for the foreseeable future.
Speaking on the latest episode of THR’s Awards Podcast, the comedian suggested that the series is done:
“I think the guy that I played on the show — the just-divorced, kinda under-water dad/struggling New York comic — I don’t think I have stories for that guy anymore”
However, referencing the ‘time capsule’ renewal FX handed the series last year, C.K. allowed for the possibility that Season 6 may yet happen one day:
“The show is autobiographical, so what [FX president and general manager] John Landgraf and I have always thought is that it may come back with a different set of stories from a different angle, a little further down the road. And I don’t know where that’s from yet, so it just depends on if it writes. I think, for me, if I’m on TV again doing a single-camera show, it’s Louie. But I don’t know. I have no idea.”
RIP.
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the graveyard for signs of Louie Season 6…

ahh.. didn’t want to focus on the depression and suicidal thoughts after wading through the 10 episodes of Horace and Pete? I mean if that was half the downer to film as it was to watch… therapy may be seriously needed. (Only made it 28 minutes into one episode before I wanted to shoot myself). Sorry, Mr C.K. USED to be hilarious. As he’s aged, he’s just gotten into this apparent rut where he acts out daily situations, which many, many, many, many people go though and somehow he thinks because HE’s dealing with it, there’s humor there. There’s no more humor in season 4 and 5 of “Louie” than there is in the daily life of almost anyone. The “writing” has just become documenting normal, mundane, situations… there’s no “writing” anywhere to be seen. Mr. C.K. CAN write.. he has in the past, maybe he will again in the future. But from my perspective, he’s written VERY little humor since 2011 (season 2 of Louie).
