Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell Season 2? Is Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell Season 2 Cancelled Or Renewed? When Will Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell Season 2 Be Released?
IS THERE JONATHAN STRANGE & MR NORRELL SEASON 2?
June 13, 2015 – Jonathan Strange writer Peter Harness confirms that he’d be more than willing to return for Season 2, but points out that as the show is tightly adapted from the book on which it’s based, continuation would depend on whether a sequel is written. Of course, the BBC could always take the show beyond the book.
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell premiered May 17, 2015 on BBC One in the UK. The series premiered June 13, 2015 on BBC America in the US.
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is set during the Napoleonic Wars in an England where magic once existed and is about to return. So begins a dangerous battle between two great men. Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan, The World’s End), Olivier award-winning Bertie Carvel (Restless, Matilda), Charlotte Riley (Wuthering Heights, Easy Virtue), and Alice Englert (Ginger & Rosa, Beautiful Creatures) star in the seven-part mini-series, which has been adapted from Susanna Clarke’s bestselling novel by Peter Harness (Wallander, Doctor Who) and directed by Toby Haynes (Sherlock, Doctor Who).
1806. England is beleaguered by the long war with Napoleon and centuries have passed since practical magicians faded into the nation’s past. However, scholars of this glorious history discover that one remains — the reclusive and skillful Mr Norrell (Marsan). His displays of magic soon thrill the nation. In London, he raises the beautiful Lady Pole (Englert) from the dead and summons an army of ghostly ships to terrify the French.
Soon the cautious and fussy Norrell is challenged by the emergence of another magician: the brilliant novice Jonathan Strange (Carvel). While trying to secure his beloved Arabella’s (Riley) hand in marriage, he meets a vagabond, the magician of Threadneedle Street, Vinculus (Paul Kaye, Game of Thrones, Stella), who tells him he is destined to be a great magician. Young, handsome and daring, Strange is the very antithesis of Norrell. A dangerous battle ensues between the two great men. Their obsessions and secret dabbling’s with the dark arts will cause more trouble than they can imagine. [BBC America]

Please write another season of Johnathon Strange and Mr Norrell. Go deeper into the characters. Improve special effects. Season one was very good. I am a recent fan of BBC America. I enjoy many of your shows and you don’t interrupt with as many commercials as some of the other stations.
Keep up the good work.

OMG! Hubby and I just finished watching Season 1 of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. WE ARE ADDICTED! What an awesome series! Please BBC, it’s obvious US movies are terrible these days so we must get our high quality entertainment from elsewhere. Between Downton Abbey, Mr. Selfridge and now Jonathan Strange, you are blowing the crappy US alternatives out of the water. Please renew Strange & Norell. The actors, the costumes, the story, the effects are all absolutely spectacular! We love it even more than Downton Abbey if such a thing is possible! Three cheers for all involved!

Truly, better than Potter and equal in depth to Downton and Poldark.

One of the most fabulous productions that I have seen! The depth of character, the historical backdrops, completely first class and begging for subsequent seasons.
George says
Of course there is no Season 2. There never would be – she only wrote the one novel.

The second book is set to be published this September (2020), 16 years after the first. Do I smell a revival of the show as well?
Manning says
Oh I so hope so I agree with you.
Jayna Shipman says
This show was wonderful. It was reminiscent of the old fairy lore in as modern times as would be expected. Am I really a minority in being enamored about this kind of fantasy genre? It is fantastic and I hope it would be reconsidered eventually.
