Is Homeland set to extend its run? Director Lesli Linka Glatter suggested the future of the Showtime TV show might not be as set in stone as it appeared.
Despite being renewed for an 8th (and previously-announced) final season, the director tells IndieWire that Homeland Season 9 remains a possibility:
“I think there’s still discussion about that, quite honestly. I think it’s still up in the air in some way.”
Glatter notes that the story for Season 8 hasn’t even been decided upon:
“We’ll go and do our annual spy camp, as we call it affectionately, [where] we go and meet with the intelligence community in D.C. Usually, from those series of meetings, the writers will go in the writers’ room and start cooking up the season.”
How many seasons of Homeland do you want? Should the Showtime TV series end with 8, or extend into 9? Stay tuned…

As long as the writer’s can continue to come up with interesting, new ideas why cancel it? You know it is time to cancel it when the writers starting turning in recycled ideas that have already been used earlier on. I say let’s give them a chance to fail first, then inspire them by having them write the ending for the final season.
I feel kind of sad for poor Carrie, as that girl has been raked over the coals. She has lost her job, her sanity and her beautiful daughter. It wouldn’t be the worst thing to give her life back in a season finally. Without Homeland, I drop Showtime entirely off my cable bill.
