ITV has cancelled The Halcyon after one series/season, having decided not to move forward with Season 2 of the period drama, despite the cliffhanger ending.
In a statement, the broadcaster said of the decision to wield the axe:
“ITV regularly considers the range of dramas we commission to ensure the right balance and breadth, together with the best mix of returning series and new dramas.
“It does mean on occasions we have to take tough decisions, and not all drama can be recommissioned. We are really pleased so many people enjoyed The Halcyon and we are proud of what the series achieved. We’d like to thank The Halcyon production team and actors and everyone at Left Bank Pictures for their hard work.”
RIP.

I just don’t understand the ITV program renewals policy
TV channels are awash with ghastly reality shows/ mindless quiz shows – all basically rubbish 🙁
then along come some truly outstanding programmes such as :-
1. Halcyon Hotel
2. Foyle’s ( Cold ) War
3. Inspector Lewis
& without any thought for the watching audiences, who in effect pay indirectly for the programmes & salaries of the ITV ‘Executives’ – they just go ahead and cancel these wonderful & well supported shows
🙁

I’m getting sick and tired of investing time in watching good new series only for them to be ended before their time. Are TV execs just wanting us to watch endless Reality, “Reality (sic)” or “Talent” (even more sic(k)). May as well just play video games!

I really enjoyed The Halcyon it had an excellent cast and story. It gets canceled while nonsense and cartoons get renewed. Who picks these shows 8 year olds???
I have to go to MHz and read sub title to get anything intelligent now.
I know you want to dumb the audience but these must be idiots.
Thanks, now I will never know if the hotel was bombed out..
