Cancelled off the back of a 3-season renewal, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce star Lisa Edelstein has reflected on the “bittersweet” demise of the Bravo drama, per TVInsider:
Bittersweet, of course. But the writers know what story they’re telling—there’s no stretching it out—and nobody has to worry about what’s going to happen next. We can come to work and put our energy into doing our jobs. There’s an ease and maturity; I feel like we’ve really jelled. One weekend, Beau Garrett [who plays free spirit Phoebe] organized a hilarious workout class for the cast and crew. We all got together and did butt exercises!”

Recently divorced not by my decision after 25 yrs (yes, husband had a mid-life crisis, my lawyer said she should retire on men-o-pause, she see’s it all the time, bastards!) I decided to tune in. At first, I watched the first few shows, then stopped. Too much. Truly, after the crap a true divorce puts one thru (like losing too much weight due to stress and gaining it back – ugh!) would I jump in bed with a hot guy? No. My abs are saying probably not too – seriously – I think a true mini-series on women who don’t even have the means to watch to the beautiful fantasy land of this show would appreciate a show to highlight but funny the not so glamorous side of divorce. Yes. Those in the middle – with or without kids – those of us who can’t afford cable to even watch these show. Those who work two jobs to make it by and don’t have time to for gym to decide to wear shirts half-tucked in or out, argue with special college prep schools for entrance fees, etc. that middle income American could only hope to bring home a salary on two middle American jobs. Yet, those moms are not celebrated. I’m sure there are beautiful women who need a story to tell outside a Hallmark escape series. While I think this show is well written, provides a great escape, I wish someone could tell the true side of divorce for women who are smart, provide for their families but are far from identifying with these women on this show (yes, the fashion is good, maybe that’s why we watch – see what we can maybe find on sale on Saks Off 5th)

PS – I wrote the above note with the following newly divorced persona:
1. Cat on my laptop – sorry – for the typo’s.
2. Cat on the laptop and drinking my red wine – again, not a good combo.
3. Typing this after having taken my contacts out, cat, wine and all lol!
