It started with “Flea Market Flip,” a competition show in which two teams compete to nab used goods and then refurbish them. “I would live to see that show live forever, it’s an absolute joy to make,” said Spencer, who was inspired to create the show by her own passion for flea market and thrift-store finds. “We’ve done over 160 episodes.”

Question: What steps does your show take to ensure the people buying from the contestants are not their friends? Seems like an easy way to cheat. And past episodes seem to show this occurred. You guys should make contestants open their Facebook and prove that the buyers can’t be traced to their accounts from three degrees of connectivity.

I absolutely love the show, although I feel the hostess occasionally “assists” one group more than another.
Kim Hight says
I agree with this comment. It seems like Laura is becoming a show blocker. I realize she is the star of the show however I enjoyed the show much better when she did not interfere with the buying and refurbishing as much. Instead of the show being about the team’s talents it’s all about what Laura thinks. My husband refuses to watch it any longer. So back off Laura you are killing the show.
Lorraine Schleis says
I agree with Kim Hight. I don’t think Lara should give an opinion and sometimes almost shaming the contestants into doing what she suggests. If the contestants make a bad decision that’s on them.and maybe they will sell it and maybe it won’t sell. Mind your business LARA and don’t help them in the bidding to buy their stuff. You are ruing the show!!
Brian says
I would love to see Lara Spencer keep her mouth shut about giving advice to the contestants when they are designing their pieces! They should have no help or input with their vision, also the fact that she only helps one side of the teams shows favoritism to one side!! Bad form Lara.
Glenna Stone says
Exactly. She should be a contestant since she finds the items, negotiates, and then sells the items. Renew the show without Miss Know-it-all Spencer.
Kim Hight says
I agree 100%. Back off Laura you are being a show hog and taking away from the fun of the show. It will not last much longer if you continue to butt in so much.
Robert Brescia says
Continue the show but the hostess is indeed biased toward certain types of participants. We saw her actually negotiate on behalf of one team but not the other- bad business and does not make us want to watch the show.
Linda says
I watched the show until I saw that Ms. Spencer is close friends with Kathy Griffin, who is so crude and vulgar. After that I questioned her taste in more than just certain advice she gave, and stopped watching.

No fan of Lara Spencer ,but I do love the show. I am just curious as a “buyer-seller” myself, Even when you have wonderful items they can take days, weeks and even months to sale. How is it that in every show ,the 6 items always sale right away ?? What is the secret ??

I really like the show, I am right now watching reruns and I just noticed, only because the programs ran back to back, the same lady and I sware she had the same suit on, bought the twin girl’s bar car to be used in her back yard for a party and in the next slow she loved the blue chandelier. Very nicely dressed older woman, guessing maybe Jewish, I only say this because she looks and reminds me of a late friend of mine.
Glenna Stone says
I saw those two shows and also noticed the same thing.

Best show on HGTV! Please do not cancel.
Tami Read Tucson Junksters says
Please don’t cancel this show!!! It’s the best show on lol. I might be a little biased but that’s because it’s my zen!!! We do this kind of thing all the time and want so bad for Arizona residents to be on the show!! We are Tucson Junksters ( on Instagram and Facebook). This is so us! We would love to be on the show and willing to travel!
Tami says
I love this show, BUT….. as of late it seems to be more the LARA show. She is inputting way too much of her opinions, suggestions and even negotiating prices for them. THIS is a contest. Her opinion, and her choices and abilities to get a cheaper price are not important. She is the host, not the contestant. I am losing interest in it because of this. Lara, let the contestants do their own thing, no favoritism, and no help from you!
Kim Hight says
Agree!! Either get rid of the contestants or tell Laura to shut up!
Roxanne Merryman says
To all you people who are not impressed with Lara…. She’s the host. She doesn’t have a say about the editing. I’m pretty sure she spends the same amount of time with both teams. I think she’s great and does her best to help each team to get the most money for their designs.
Joseph Greene says
God i hope this boring foolish show comes to a end soon, made up of silly competition between two couples then the great moment where they sell whatever work of art they have cast together.Lets not forget that there is Laura whatever who is way to bossy and domineering over nothing.

I love watching flea market flip. I am in McKinney Texas and would love the show to come to McKinney Trade Days and give us southern folks a chance to participate. My husband and I love buying and refinishing. Please consider McKinney Trade Days as it is a great flea market. We are right outside of Dallas!

Am interested in being a contestant on Flea Market Flip, we live in the DE are and could easily attend any shows being done in the New Jersey area. My husband and I are both retired, love antiques, have had our own vendor’s spot in an Antique Mall and love the show.

I love this show and really like Lara!!! Keep up the good work
Manuela Ferschke says
Love the show and Lara as well would love to see the return or more episodes of “I brake for Yard Sales” also. That being said I disagree with the comments that Lara is favoring one team over the other I have all the episodes recorded and watch them frequently in my upcycling hours and always find her input helpful even though I don’t always agree with the choice, and in the end it’s always the contestants final decision.
I live in ct but have never been to Brimfield would love be a contestant some day.
Kim Hight says
Have been a fan of this show since it first aired. The only thing is I am loosing interest due to the amount of time Laura is spending helping the team’s. I feel she needs to back off and let the team’s do there thing. If she needs to be in front of the camera so much bring back the show I brake for yard sales. Oh yea it was CANCELLED and so will flea market flip if she doesn’t back off.
Paula says
Been to the Elephant trunk flea market and happen to catch the filming of the show. It was pretty cool. I was wondering what happens to the items that don’t sell?
