Father Brown is coming… and the sleuth will face some of his toughest cases yet
Father Brown is the most watched drama on BBC One Daytime, averaging over 2.5 million viewers and is a world-wide success with a global audience in over 150 countries. Series six is a real treat for the fans, and they won’t be disappointed.
BBC One’s hit daytime drama series Father Brown is set to return this December, for its sixth series, and opens with a Christmas Special before the series continues in January. Returning alongside Father Brown are his faithful parish secretary Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack), wayward socialite Bunty Windermere (Emer Kenny) and long suffering Inspector Mallory (Jack Deam).
The series kicks off with a cold case at Christmas. When a skeleton from a seven year old murder case is found buried in the woods, doubts are cast on the conviction of the confessed killer – a local gentle giant. Father Brown and friends investigate a miscarriage of justice at the same time as starring in the annual Christmas pantomime – Cinderella.
Visiting from Northern Rhodesia with Sid (Alex Price), Lady Felicia (Nancy Carroll) is intercepted by her old adversary from M15, Daniel Whittaker (Daniel Flynn). Is her lover Benedict (Richard Harrington) really a Russian spy? Elsewhere Father Brown struggles to protect those closest to him when old foe Katherine Corven (Kate O’Flynn) is unexpectedly released from prison, thirsty for revenge. As the series ends Father Brown is troubled to hear about the death of Flambeau (John Light) as he races to protect a crown that contains a nail from the crucifixion of Christ.
Will Trotter, Head of Daytime Drama, Birmingham Drama Village says: “This series really puts Father Brown to the test, battling old foes, using wit and guile to right some serious wrongs and all while tending to his parishioners in the quaint village of Kembleford.
“This summer was spent filming in our favourite locations across the Midlands from Redditch to Warwick and showcasing the beautiful period Cotswolds villages.

YaY, I watch on Netflix here and love the original cast so this makes me happy although Binky and the Constable were pretty good the last few seasons!

Glad to see. Companies set up production and cast and discard too quickly, this series is always quality and fun with excellent settings and cast….look forward to more gentle adventures….

My husband and I really like Father Brown. We also like Dr. Blake and Miss Fisher and guess what? All cancelled. Very Disappointing!
