Season 1 is 1989, and Season 2 may be 1970, and there may also be links between the characters. The mythology will be spread out over five seasons, but every season will have a beginning, middle and end.

“The summer of ’89 mysteries are answered, and those stories are resolved, but the larger story of what this lake is, with these supernatural properties in this camp … we’ve set up a bigger story to hopefully tell in subsequent seasons set in different years,” Horowitz explained.
Kitsis added that he and his partners were inspired by the “genius” Ryan Murphy of “American Horror Story,” “American Crime Story,” and now “Feud” anthology-fame … because “five years of the same kids at the same summer camp over one summer worked 15 years ago, but it certainly doesn’t today.”
