Dark Matter Season 4 wont be un-cancelled by Netflix or any other outlet.
As expected, the axed Syfy drama has not been able to find a new home for Season 4.
Admitting defeat, co-creator Joseph Mallozzi states that “contractual issues” have extinguished all hope of the space drama’s resurrection:
All good things must come to an end – some much sooner than expected. Sadly, such is the case for Dark Matter. Despite word of the cancellation by syfy, fandom rose up and gave us new hope. We sought to buck the odds and find our little show a new home. But unfortunately, I just learned that our final option has proven unworkable due to contractual issues. It’s a shame because these potential saviors reached out to me and offered a creative solution that, had it worked, would have been a sci-fi fan’s dream scenario. But, alas, it was not to be. In time, I would love to tell you all about it.
However, Mallozzi is hoping to revive Dark Matter Season 4 in comic book form:
As for what’s next for Dark Matter? My first choice would be to complete the story in comic book format where it originally began, but I’ve just started to look into the possibility now. Beyond that, I’m not sure.
Thank you to my cast and crew who made it all possible.
And an especially HUGE THANK YOU to all of you, the viewers and fans, who made Dark Matter one of syfy’s most watched shows and who rallied and made your voices heard these past few weeks.
I said it before and I’ll say it again… You all deserved better.
Were you hoping Netflix or another outlet would resurrect Dark Matter Season 4? Would you follow the story to a comic book format?

Yes I did think Netflix would take it. But what network was interested in it.
So what happened about the contract then, who owns it. So they didn’t want them to have it.
I wont read the comics, I only like watching the tv shows. So that’s a disappointment to me.

I really really wish one of the above mentioned would renewed Dark Matter for Season 4 and even possibly more. This was an Amazing show with an Absolutely Amazing Cast. Exacly (unworkable due to contractual issues.) if they don’t want it they should let the rights go, not very nice of then and why would you
steve says
too bad…great show…it is hard to believe that not one provider would step up and air this show…not a single one ????? I mean there are so many horrible shows on tv…really all you networks and cable people…what are you thinking ????
Barry Etheridge says
Thinking is something apparently absent from TV networks of late. It will inevitably get to the point that people will just not watch new shows fearing that they will be cut off at some utterly inexplicable point. It does seem odd that companies desperate for viewers continue to act in ways that will merely ensure that there are fewer and fewer of them.

I couldn’t agree more! It is becoming harder and harder to find decent TV series shows to watch. I am NOT interested in watch ANY “reality” shows, I want to be entertained, and not by a bunch of spoiled elites and stupid people “competing” in stupid ways.
Keep cancelling the good shows and no one will be watching your networks.

very sad great show so few truly entertaining shows like that
hopefully DVD set will be available
another net work mistake
Shaye says
A comic REALLY? why bother then…like Revolution a lame comic i didn’t and won’t read instead of just allowing them to wrap it up in so many episodes
Amy D says
FUCK you, SYFY, FUCK you, NETFLIX. No, I won’t follow it as a comic book. Thanks for tanking yet ANOTHER great show.
The_Abbott says
Shame really because it was actually improving and story plots coming together so I guess cancellation was inevitable. The last few Season 3 episodes were amazing – had a Blakes 7 feel to it.
Terry says
Why doesn’t the networks get a reality check? I mean really. Why don’t you all get together and take a chance on a really good story and let the characters find out what they really were and if they are actually to blame for the crimes they committed. If Season 3 & 4 are out there completed, why not just let the shows air and get us out of the cliffhanger you all left us in? By the way, there are a lot of crappy shows that are in their 6th,7th, or 8th seasons. I usually watch the first show and maybe the second before I make my decision on whether it is crap or not. Most times it turns into some love story or something so unbelievable and really out there…somewhere where no one should ever go and gets the CRAP vote. Give all us fans a listen to, we inevitably are the ones that decide what shows are really good, or just crap taking up screen time and wasting our time, when they do not deserve it. Put Dark Matter back on damn it!!!!

It is really disappointing that a quality show such as DarK Matter has to end its scheduled five year ending before getting there. Syfy is going down hill.
