Dallas Cakes Ordered to Series
FOOD NETWORK FAST-TRACKS MORE CAKES FOR MONDAYSFebruary 6, 2018 – Food Network has ordered to series Dallas Cakes, the newest ‘cake’ for its dominant Monday night baking-themed lineup. The series, which is a spin-off of the recently renewed Vegas Cakes, is slated for spring and follows extraordinarily talented, Dallas-based bakers as they conceive, create and deliver incredible, customized confections to their customers. The network also announced a fast-tracked season two renewal for Ridiculous Cakes, currently in its first season and airing Mondays at 10pm. Ridiculous Cakes spotlights out-of-this-world cakes that often defy the laws of physics and gravity. Production will begin this month on the ten half-hour episodes of Dallas Cakes and the thirteen-episode season two of Ridiculous Cakes plus an all-new holiday-themed special.
Dallas Cakes, Ridiculous Cakes and Vegas Cakes are all part of Food Network’s Monday night lineup strategy, which has seen tremendous success with its seasonal baking championships, all of which ranked among the top ten original series for Food Network in 2017. The baking championships which include Kids Baking Championship, currently airing Mondays at 9pm with ratings for P25-54 up over 50% season-to-date vs. same day/time period last year, Spring Baking Championship, returning with a fourth season in March, had notched its highest-rated season-to-date in 2017 with ratings for P25-54 up +8% vs. prior season, as well as Halloween Baking Championship and Holiday Baking Championship, have laid the foundation for a bigger, bolder baking- and cake-themed programming lineup with a mix of formats and regionally-focused series expanding the genre and creating a destination for more than just dessert on Mondays.
“Monday nights on Food Network have really become appointment viewing for fans – offering up a dessert-themed lineup with delicious, eye-catching creations and edge-of-your-seat action and we want to continue delivering that exceptional viewing experience every week,” said Courtney White, Senior Vice President, Programming, Scripps Networks Interactive. “Building off the success of the baking championships with series like Vegas Cakes, Dallas Cakes and Ridiculous Cakes, is the perfect way to further reinforce our already robust lineup with different flavors of a genre the audience loves.” (Food Network)
