Fresh from the US, hotly anticipated medical drama ABC Studios’ Code Black comes to Watch on Thursday 29th October at 9pm. The 13-part adrenalin fuelled series stars Academy Award(R) winner Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River) and renowned British actor Raza Jaffrey (Homeland, Spooks) and airs just two weeks after it’s US launch.
Inspired by the award-winning documentary by Ryan McGarry, Code Black is a heart-pounding medical drama that takes place in the busiest ER in the US, LA County Hospital. The staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black. At this urban hospital, it’s not if they go Code Black, it’s when. At the core is the brilliant, hard-nosed residency director Dr. Leanne Royer (Marcia Gay Harden) mentoring a group of four new residents in her aggressive style of medicine borne out of her own shocking past which puts her at odds with colleagues and students.
This is a medical drama like no other, behind the scenes there are numerous medical professionals on staff including actual trauma nurses who actually appear on screen as trauma nurses. Every actor on the show went through a medical boot camp set up by Executive Producer Michael Sietzman. Code Black is high octane and intense, every second is a matter of life or death in this ER…
