Bones exec producer Stephen Nathan has spoken positively about the future of the Fox procedural.
Chatting to Zap2It at Comic-Con, Nathan expressed confidence that Bones would continue into Season 11, stressing that “the life hasn’t gone out of the show”:
“I was asked if I was surprised that [Fox chairman] Peter Rice announced that there would probably be a Season 11 [of Bones], and I said “no, I was actually surprised when our demise was announced, that Season 10 would be the last.”
If anything, Nathan believes Bones is on the way up, and claims the show, assisted by evolving technologies, is gaining more fans as it moves into its tenth year:
It doesn’t seem – it could be – but it doesn’t seem as if the life is out of the show, and it certainly doesn’t seem as if the fans feel the life is out of the show. While ratings are different now, and how they compile how many people are watching the show and are interested in the show changes, the fanbase for Bones keeps growing and new fans are being introduced to the show all the time.
During the Bones panel, Nathan was even more positive on the show’s long-term future, declaring his desire for Bones to last 20 seasons.
