ITV will definitely not return to the Shieldlands.
We initially reported on the cancellation of Beowulf back in February, now the parent broadcaster has openly confirmed the show’s demise:
“ITV regularly refreshes it’s drama portfolio and as such Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands isn’t returning to the channel.”
Beowulf will also end as a one-and-done in the US on Esquire.
RIP.

will we at least get a series/season finale?

Bring it back!
Daron Cleveland says
Season 2 please! I love this show!
Zee says
Didn’t see this one coming! /sarcasm
Had potential, too bad, but had the visual effects from the ’50’s or ’60’s!
Invading armies where we see about a dozen soldiers?!
Fortresses with weaker fences than in my yard?!
I don’t know how shows like Vikings do it, but they do it right.

Not coming back? Why it’s so entertaining. I look forward to seeing it. Wish they would spread the wealth when making these decisions.

I didn’t find the lead character to appealing. The show seemed a little to corny compared to Vikings. Which is done with such technique. This channel also was a very small network. Not to many people even knew about this show of where it was. It was on ESQUIRE, where I live. I just stumbled upon. I didn’t think it would make it.

To bad. Solid show, with a strong plot. Too much emphasis on antiquated themes such as accountability, honor, order, and sacrifice; to survive in this present day world. Such themes offend the masses.

Would have been njce to have given the thing a chance to breathe. A show like this needs a bit of time to try to develop the characters in a slightly complex storyline. All anybody getswants to get into it is how good are the special effects, or how does it work against Game of Thrones! Well it is not Game of Thrones, it was developing its own story and its own place and time…hell half the people out there didn’t even know the show was even on yet. It seems that right by the time you spread the word for people to check out something some group of eggheads decide to take it off the air. I liked that it was kind of a mythology placed in its proper time. Now, just as the different peoples have their different plot lines in place…we get left with not a single answer to any of them… nice way to treat thosemof us that where spreading the word. How many times has/is this kind of garbage going to happen. It started with things like Star Trek, on and on thru shows like Serenity/Firefly etc. and it just continue to go on and on. Will these people ever learn?! Sometimes it takesma little more than one short season on a station that a lot of people don’t even know is there. I can’t think of anything else on there that I’m even interested in watching. So,if you do put something on I wonder how long it will be before I find out about it….and when I do willmit still be on?!

I agree! Bring it back
