**SPOILER ALERT FOR 13 REASONS WHY**
Netflix has yet to renew 13 Reasons Why for Season 2, but should it return?
For his part, author Jay Asher, who penned the best-selling book from which the series was adapted, believes there are many reasons why a second season should happen, per EW:
“I’d just like a continuation of all those characters. I’m curious as well. What happens to Clay? How do people react to what Alex did at the very end? What’s going to happen to Mr. Porter? I’d thought of a sequel at some point. I’d brainstormed it, but decided I wasn’t going to write it. So I’d love to see it.”
Hannah’s story might have come to an end, but Asher believes a second season has legs, especially given the ongoing trial and the open-ended nature to many of the character storylines:
“Things weren’t left open in the hopes of a sequel… There is no end for the characters left behind. Every action we have is going to have repercussions in ways we could not anticipate. You realize that with not just what Hannah did, but also how other people treated Tyler throughout it. It’s the whole message of the book. Of course, there’s obviously ways to go with a second season if they do that.”
Meanwhile, Devin Druid, who plays Tyler Down in the series, echoes Asher’s sentiments, per CNN:
“We were definitely able to expand on these characters that you don’t see as much in the book, and we have some really interesting beginnings of a storyline that we could expand on. There’s still the court trial and some plotlines brewing at the end of the series that I know a lot of people on Twitter have been asking about, including my sibling.”
Would you like to see 13 Reasons Why Season 2? Or should it be left as a one-and-done series and avoid becoming a legal drama/less interesting version of itself?
