It’s finally official. HBO has formally renewed True Detective for Season 3, can reveal.
As previously reported, Mahershala Ali will have a starring role in the crime anthology drama’s third season, slated to premiere in 2018.
Five scripts have already been completed for Season 3, of which HBO chief Casey Bloys has lauded:
“The scripts are terrific. I am very impressed and excited. We are talking to directors [for Season 3].”
Bloys added:
“Nic has written truly remarkable scripts. With his ambitious vision and Mahershala Ali and director Jeremy Saulnier aboard, we are excited to embark on the next installment of True Detective.”
Creator Nic Pizzolatto said:
“I’m tremendously thrilled to be working with artists at the level of Mahershala and Jeremy. I hope the material can do justice to their talents, and we’re all very excited to tell this story.”
