Comedy Central UK has rebooted Takeshi’s Castle for a new season, with Jonathan Ross presenting.
Louise Holmes of Comedy Central UK, said of the reboot:
“Takeshi’s Castle is the gold standard of physical game shows and we can’t wait to bring the delightful mayhem of this show back to the UK with this new series.
Jonathan’s comedic brilliance will add a fresh level of funny to this well-loved format for both original fans and hopefully, a whole new generation of “Keshi-heads”.’
Takeshi’s Castle originally aired on Japan’s Tokyo Broadcasting System in 1986, surviving four years before being defeated by the cancellation reaper.
Filmed in Thailand, the new episodes will release in the UK this autumn before airing on comedy Central channels across the world, except the US, Canada and Japan.
The format, which features 100 members of the public taking on a series of crazy obstacles, will be shot in HD for the first time.
