Mike & Molly Season 6 will indeed be the last in the series – there will not be a Season 7.
Series star Rondi Reed confirmed that CBS has preemptively cancelled the sitcom, with the upcoming sixth season being the last:
Before you hear it elsewhere (and some already have) this is the Final and 6th Season of Mike & Molly on CBS. It is also a shortened season (13 episodes) after the announced full renewal of 22 episodes back in March by the network. We are done taping as of January 27th 2016 and I am not sure exactly when/if the episodes will all be aired. The network has it’s reasons, and I will not get into a debate, discussion, or campaign to get them to change their minds.
Reed notes that while the series was shopped to other outlets for Season 7, there have been no takers:
Other venues were explored by WB and Bonanza Productions (Chuck Lorre) after CBS announced their intentions, but did not turn up a future for our show. It is a fact and we have known for a few weeks. I remain extremely grateful to have been a part of this and to have worked with a fabulous bunch of folks over the years. I have learned a lot about many things, including the Business we call Show. Also grateful for all the fans and for the personal support I have received over the (almost) 6 seasons. Stewart Talent has guided me every step of the way on this journey and for that I am also forever grateful.
RIP.

cannot believe they would cancel Mike and Molly. One of the funniest shows on TV and keep some of the other stuff they keep on. What are you thinking CBS!!!!!!!!

AGREED! Yet 2 Broke Girls is still around. One of the raunchiest shows on early in the evening when children and young adults are watching. If it has to be on it should be on after 9 pm.
HA! says
I don’t mind raunchy.. but I definitely agree that 2 Broke Girls is by FAR the worst sitcom on any network at the moment. It’s the same sex jokes over and over and over and over. I think they ought to just go all in and make the girls start hooking for money. It would give a whole new meaning to “Max’s Cupcakes” and fit the writing better.
denise says
Your right the show is raunchy, it’s just not right that they keep that on but cancel Mike and Molly
denise says
Yes, cancel Mike and Molly and leave 2 Broke Girls on, Max on the show can’t act, I guess shes suppose to be the straight man of the group, but leave that on and cancel Mike and Molly one of the funniest shows on any network, ashamed of cbs for doing this.

Another truly awesome sitcom bites the dust and other WORTHLESS CRAP is renewed. TV is sinking fast with all good program happening elsewhere. Soon TV sets will be a thing of the past thanks to Stupid network decisions like this one!!!!!

Can’t believe CBS is cancelling this show. It’s even more unbelievable another network wouldn’t pick up the show. It’s a proven winner & one of the funniest shows on TV.

I am having a hard time believing CBS canceled Mike & Molly. What were they thinking. I guess CBS wasn’t thinking at all.
vp says
I, believe it, because as I have said over and over again CBS is known for the stupid decisions they make cancelling good shows and keeping bad ones, and that is why ABC &NBC are beating them fast. Ha Ha…..

Mike and Molly and Rules of Engagement were two of the best comedies on TV with good ratings.
How can CBS be so stupid?
HA! says
They ruined this show when they “remade” it to fit McCarthy’s moronic slapstick movies. The charm was in the characters. Then they just made it about out stupid Molly could be. It became the “Molly” show with no substance to it.
denise says
Another network needs to pick up Mike and Molly, come on people, the show is great, great cast, great storylines, maybe Netflix will pick up, although we need a full season of shows, not half a season or so, fx why don’t you pick it up, or fox, but of course fox cancels everything anyway

Looked forward to watching this show every week. One of our favorites. I liked that they are not rich and all skinny. They are all so different, that what I like about it. It was a funny show. For 1/2 an hour you could relax and enjoy yourself. Why do you always get rid of the good shows and keep the dumb.
Dee says
I hate that Mike and Molly is being cancelled! It’s one of the best shows on t.v. I look forward to it every week. I love Melissa McCarthy, she’s my favorite actress/comedian! I’m really going to miss Mike and Molly!
