Showrunner Craig Sweeny has teased plans for Limitless Season 2 and potentially beyond in an interview with IGN:
IGN: What would you say was your overall goal with this two-part finale? Did you wrap up certain things or leave it open to interpretation, kind of like the movie did in the end?
Sweeny: I did not want to create something where you watch it and go, “That was not a complete chapter of a larger whole.” My goal has always been to tell a complete story in Season 1 and a complete story in Season 2 and tell a complete story for every season that we get, so that eventually you have chapters that feel like complete seasons. So we will have essentially told the story of Sands and what it means for Brian the character to have faced not just one but multiple adversaries who are on NZT.
IGN: Have you guys talked, in general terms, about what a Season 2 might look like?
Sweeny: So, we’re going to make some changes to the show, but it will remain essentially — we do find a way for it to be Brian taking NZT working with Rebecca and Boyle and a couple new members on the team, solving crimes and having fun a week-to-week basis. So despite the current state of things at the end of “Finale: Part One!” at the end of the season, we are in a different place, but not as radically different as it feels like what we’re in right now.
CBS has yet to officially renew Limitless for Season 2, but the network has verbally announced that the show will return. Stay tuned to find out whether the eye network keeps its promise…
