After six seasons, Last Man Standing has been toppled by the cancellation reaper, but the show isn’t going quietly into the graveyard.
TVGuide reports on the planned boycott of ABC by a fan group:
Now fans of the show are calling for a boycott of ABC. Why? Because they believe the cancellation was an attack on their conservative values.
A Change.org petition has gathered more than 42,000 signatures of support for the show that the petition author says “appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely conservative values.”
The petition also points out that several characters on the sitcom lean liberal, but that all the characters are able to get along and support each other despite their political differences. After that Kumbaya moment however, the petition goes on to say, “Last Man Standing is one of the only shows on broadcast television, and the only sitcom, that is not constantly shoving liberal ideals down the throats of the viewers,” and that the show was canceled because of its conservative viewpoint.
Did Last Man Standing deserve to fall? Are you boycotting ABC?

ABC is discussing, this is by far one of their shows. Just because Tim Allen’s politely views don’t agree with powers of ABC, your cancelling the show.
Well, I must cancel ABC, will be boycotting ABC network.
You try to force all your liberal views on me (Modern Family), had enough.
NO MORE
ABC

Agree, ABC is history for me

It was very suspicious that they canceled such a consistently high rated series just after Tim made comments about how dangerous it was to be a conservative in Hollywood. But that is the nature of the game in Hollyweird .

Boycotting. I’ve had enough. Something is very, very wrong in this country when there is severe backlash on celebrities who don’t “go with the flow”. It’s very scary. The only way for people in this country to make their voices heard with this (and how wrong it is) is to tune out of ABC altogether. It’s the only thing that will make them sit up and take notice. So that’s what I plan to do. I don’t doubt with the ratings the show had, that it will be picked up by another network, but that’s not the point. I will still boycott ABC. To cancel a show with the ratings it had with no other explanation other than a “scheduling conflict”, after the star of the show just said in an interview that there is severe backlash for being a conservative in Hollywood, seems pretty suspicious to me. I don’t like bullies, which is what these network executives are.

I am livid to say the least that this show (AND Dr. Ken) was cancelled !!! There are no other shows on TV that I enjoy like I did Last Man Standing !!! It was a breath of fresh air and fun at the end of the week……now, thanks to ABC, it’s GONE !!! I KNOW it was for political reasons, THAT is quite obvious…..sorry ABC, but I will be boycotting anything and everything ABC and Disney !! I was gong to plan a trip to Disney World for my family’s next vacation, but that is definitely NOT happening now !!! I hope others will follow suit…..maybe you will get the hint when advertising sponsors start dropping you too !!!!! Bye bye ABC !!!!!

Check again……there is over 192,000 signatures on the petition now.

I’m by no means Conservative but this is a good show. For me personally, politics has nothing to do with it. It’s just a funny show. End of story
