Netflix has cancelled House of Cards. The previously-announced sixth season will be the last in the political thriller’s run, with no Season 7, THR confirms:
The final run of House of Cards, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright as ruthless and ambitious beltway couple, will debut its last 13 episodes in 2018. Executive producers Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese, who replaced exiting creator Beau Willimon last year, are both expected to return as co-showrunners.
The cancellation of House of Cards comes in the wake of star Kevin Spacey‘s sexual assault scandal.
Unlikely to be coincidence, Netflix and Media Rights Capital say they are “deeply troubled” by the Spacey revelation:
“Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey/ In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”

THAT IS NOT REASON TO CANCEL THE SHOW
Mark Pierce says
Yes, it is actually.
Kenneth Hemsley says
What earthly reason could th.ere be for cancelling House Of Cards. If this is because of all the tweets put out about kevin Stacey, it is wrong
Mark Pierce says
No, it’s not wrong. It was a good decision.

After the secret that came out about Frank in his younger days at the academy and the way he was behaving with that young man helping him with his war reenactments, it seems rather daft of Netflix if you ask me. Art is imitating life so it’s hardly surprising life is imitating art! Honestly, grow up Netflix, seems this is the way the world is now. Get over it and move on.
All that aside, still a pretty stupid reason to can the show.
Now, don’t rush to finish the show – that only leaves massive holes in the plot, finish it properly. I want to see Claire’s run for the Presidency and hear her thoughts out loud (as Netfix teased towards the end of the series).

It’s not a reason? It’s the way the world is now? No wonder these individuals think they can get away with these “criminal” acts. It’s people like the commenters here that promote and “support” such horrendous acts. Because that’s what your doing when you think a show shouldn’t be cancelled because its star is a pediphile. Good for Netflix.

Oh, has Spacey been convicted of something and I missed it?
There are *allegations*. Yes, deeply disturbing allegations that need to be investigated, but still allegations.
Remember, the falsely accused are victims too. I have no idea if Spacey is being falsely accused or not (and neither do you), but that’s why it’s “innocent until proven guilty”. Unfortunately today it’s “innocent until tweeted about.”
Donna says
Thanks a lot Spacey! You pedo fag!
Peter says
If the story is true about Mr. Spacey then yes its correct to have him exit the show.
What I want to know is why the rest of the cast and crew have to be punished for one persons crime? You are making the whole show a victim. Don’t you realize that this show has many, many talented people in it. I believe this show can go on successfully without Mr. Spacey.

This is still America. He has been convicted of nothing.I’m sick and tired of people automatically condemning someone before they’re proven innocent or guilty in a court of law..i call people like that ignorant and foolish..and that applies to the writers of House Of Cards and anyone else associated with it that has come to this decison …idots..
