Is Heroes Reborn about to become a ‘limited-run’ rather than ongoing series?
The NBC reboot had the potential to continue into an overall sixth season, ratings permitting.
However, the show’s low numbers coupled with creator Tim Kring‘s supernatural drama Beyond getting ordered to series at ABC Family/Freeform has the Cancellation Reaper on high alert.
Per THR:
The Disney-owned cable network has picked up Tim Kring’s Beyond and its Amanda Knox-inspired drama Guilt to series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Supernatural drama Beyond hails from Heroes creator Kring. The series revolves around a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.
From Imperative Entertainment and Automatik, the drama is created, written and executive produced by Adam Nussdorf (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland). Kring, Zak Kadison, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones executive produce.
Beyond marks the latest TV foray for Kring, who has NBC’sHeroes Reborn wrapping its limited run and recently saw miniseries Dig conclude on USA Network. The drama was picked up to pilot in April and stars Callan McAuliffe, Jordan Calloway, Dilan Gwyn, Romy Rosemont, Michael McGrady and Burkely Duffield.
Of course, Kring could delegate/juggle both projects, but either way the news isn’t exactly encouraging for Heroes Reborn. Stay tuned…

Heroes is a great show with a lot of potential, but it’s suffering from the same thing that got it cancelled. ..too much time travel. Now why do we need another world ending event that needs time travel to solve? What was wrong with the story of the evos fighting and rebelling against the humans who were out to destroy them? That has so much more potential for character development and back stories. Enough with hiro, he’s a series killer.
