The Good Place cancelled? With only four episodes remaining this season, is the NBC comedy heading to the Bad Place? Not according to creator/EP Michael Schur, who assures TVLine that the limited 13-episode season was planned from the start:
“When I pitched the show to NBC, I felt pretty strongly it was kind of a big swing, and everything was gonna be really heavily serialized. It just felt like it made sense to keep that to a shorter season. And they very kindly and reasonably agreed with that.”
While broadcast sitcoms traditionally run 22-episodes, Schur didn’t think that would best-serve the series:
“It isn’t a ‘you can do as many of these as you want’ kind of a show. It has to be tightly plotted. And it’s much harder to do that over 22 or 24 episodes, versus 13 or so.”
Should Good Place avoid cancellation hell as expected, Schur says Season 2 “would be of a similar length”.
Stay tuned as the cancel/renew fate of The Good Place Season 2 is decided…

Another good show down the drain. We really need MORE stupid phony reality shows and game shows. How about Who Wants to be a Moron?
