Is The Good Fight over already? The Good Wife spinoff previewed soft on CBS with a 0.7 in the key 18-49 demo, Deadline reports:
Premiering at 8 PM on Sunday with a special preview and starting with dismay at the inauguration of Donald Trump, the Christine Baranski-led legal drama snagged a soft 0.7/2 in the key demo. After last night, TGF will now only be seen on CBS All Access – which showed the second episode on Sunday too.
While comparisons are a bit stretched, last night’s TGF debut was down 46% from the series finale of TGW’s seven-season run on May 8 last year at 9 PM. It is also down 63% in the 18-49s from the September 22, 2014 launch of Madam Secretary in that 9 PM slot. To add one more stat, TGF dropped 30% from lead-in 60 Minutes (1.0/4) – which itself was down 20% from its pre-Grammy Awards position of last week.
While not yet terminal to The Good Fight Season 2 renewal, the poor start serves as another knock to the show’s survival confidence and places more pressure on its main meal ticket – the number of subscriptions it brings to the CBS All Access service.
Will enough viewers subscribe to CBS All Access to keep the show in the fight for renewal? Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the cancel/renew status of The Good Fight Season 2…

It’s likely due to people knowing they’d have to pay to see the show after the first episode so why bother watching to begin with. Stupid CBS All Access – crooks.

I, among many other I’m guessing, would be watching this show faithfully as we did Good Wife, EXCEPT you have to pay to see this each month. Why subscribe and pay for 4 episodes a month when that is all you would be watching. CBS is one of the networks that I watch consistently. But I have to pay for Directv each month and the thought of paying a fee to watch one show on All Access is just not reasonable. I have a DVR which gets plenty of use and I watch 3 TV shows each evening and record the rest. I also have ONDemand which allows me to watch the shows that won’t fit into my schedule, all with just one monthly price. I would love to watch this show, I never missed an episode of the Good Wife, and this has some of the stars I loved in that series. Why mess with a good thing. Put the show on network and I bet the ratings would go up and you’d have another hit show.

I am sure this show will be even more liberal and democratic leaning than The Good Wife, which was hideously so. You could not pay me to watch this. Hope it is cancelled immediately.

I won’t be watch it due the two lesbian women! Other than that it just might be a good show.

I liked the show when it aired on Sunday night, however, I am not paying money to see it. My Time Warner basic digital bill is high enough and I can find more than good programs on TV than I could possibly ever see. There’s always something to view 24/7 such as TCM.
I would watch The Good Fight on free TV, but, not on a premium channel.
Kind of an apples/oranges comparison to compare the ratings of The Good Wife which aired all of it’s episodes on CBS and The Good Fight which only aired one, edited for basic cable episode, (no nudity or cursing which the cable program has), on Sunday night and from now on can only be seen on CBS All Access.
